Peanut Island Snorkeling Field Trip on August 20, 2015 with Christa Jewett at Peanut Island Park in Riviera Beach, FL.
When: Thursday, August 20, 2015
Duration: 4 hours Participants will be led on a guided snorkeling adventure in the shallow water around Peanut Island. Crystal blue water, an abundance of reef fish and beautiful sea shells make this a location to remember. All participants must be strong swimmers and have their own snorkeling equipment. It is recommended that snorkelers wear water shoes instead of snorkel fins. Peanut Island Park is an isolated island park in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway. There are restrooms, beach showers, drinking fountains and shaded picnic areas available on the island. You must bring your own water bottles and snacks or sack lunches as there are no concessions available on the island. Please remember that participants will meet at Riviera Beach Municipal Marina and catch a ferry which will transport them over to the island. The ferry will leave promptly at the scheduled time so please be on time! Although the duration of the field trip is 4 hours, participants may choose to stay on the island and contact the ferry directly to arrange a return trip to the Riviera Beach Municipal Marina. The last return ferry leaves at 5:00 PM. There is a fee of $10.00 per person for the ferry to Peanut Island. Cash will be required to pay for ferry transportation to and from Peanut Island. Please allow at least one hour to drive from Fort Lauderdale to the marina.
