9:30 -11:30 am – Interpreting our Nation’s National Parks
Our National Parks are wonderful vacation opportunities. And they are the finest in the world! But they are havens for effectively teaching evolution old earth geology too. In his presentation on the geology of our National Parks, Patrick will answer the questions as to how and why the Park system has an old earth view. Why does the Park say that the last eruption of Yellowstone was 640,000 years ago? Will it erupt again? Were there really huge glaciers that sculpted Yosemite in the past? And how long ago and why? And what about the petrified trees at Petrified Forest National Park? Was there really an ancient forest? What kind of animals were preserved along with the trees? Patrick will give you a simple Biblical geological interpretive device that you can use to figure out the geology of all our National Parks and answer these and more questions about Yellowstone, Yosemite and Petrified Forest National Parks.
