Florida Water Systems Field Trip – Orlando, FL
October 9, 2015
Join the Cliftons – creationists, authors, Florida Master Naturalists, and science educators – as we explore Florida’s Water Systems from the perspective of God’s great design in creation. Our adventure will include:
- Canaveral National Seashore – beach activities at this saltwater ecosystem,
- Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge – educational displays and film about the area’s ecology,
- Indian River Lagoon – seine in this brackish water habitat with our “Catch and Release” permit. In the past, we have caught various marine specimens in our nets such as fish, shrimp, crabs, seahorses, jellyfish, puffer fish, horseshoe crabs, stingrays, etc. We often see manatees and dolphins.
- St. Johns River – observe the plant and animal life of this freshwater environment from an airboat! We usually see gators, eagles, a variety of water birds, turtles, etc. You’ll also have the opportunity to hold a baby gator!
