Does “Yom” Always Mean “Day”?

Could Creation Week have been billions of years long? The Hebrew word “yom” (“day”) occurs no less than 15 times in the creation account in Genesis 1:1-2:4. Many theologians believe it has a wide range of meanings. Why? How flexible is “yom”? And does it really matter?
