The Bear Essentials – What is a bear? Where do bears live around the world? Could they be living in your neighborhood? Join Bill and Merilee Clifton – creationists, authors, Florida Master Naturalists, and science educators – as we look at the major bear species of the world in general and then focus on our own Florida Black Bear, our state’s largest land mammal. Through a variety of activities, we will learn about bear anatomy and physiology, behavior, life cycles, habitat requirements, and limiting factors. We’ll see bear skulls, claws, tracks, fur, and scat (what’s that?!), as well as learn ecological concepts to help us understand how our actions impact the Florida Black Bear’s survival. Learn to “Be Bear Aware.”
