WHERE:<\/strong> Oleta River State Park CONTACT:<\/strong>\u00a0Christa Jewett REGISTER:<\/strong>\u00a0https:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/KwykdSRd6bRn7n593<\/a><\/p>\n COST:<\/strong> $30 per person<\/p>\n EXPENSES:<\/strong> The park charges $30 (plus tax) for up 1.5 hours of kayak rental for a single kayak and $40 (plus tax) for a double kayak. Canoes are also available for $45 (plus tax) for up to 1.5 hours. If you provide your own kayak, you must also bring a life jacket. In addition, there is a $6.00 per vehicle (up to 8 people) park admission fee. Cash will be required to pay this fee at the park entrance.<\/p>\n This is a biblically-based tour. All ages are welcome to attend. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a parent. Participants will meet at Parking Lot #9 (the last parking lot) in Oleta River State Park in Miami, Florida (3400 Northeast 163rd Street Miami, FL 33160-4460). <\/a>Mangrove Hike and Kayak Trip!<\/strong> Participants will be led on a guided hike through a mangrove forest where they will be given a biblical overview of the mangrove ecosystem. Chasing mangrove crabs, licking salt off mangrove leaves, listening to snapping shrimp “pop” their warnings and spotting various fish hiding in the mangrove roots are all highlights of this portion of the field trip. Following the hike, participants will be led on a guided 1.5 hour kayak through the mangroves to offer them a water-based viewpoint.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Christa Jewett is the founder of Saltwater Studies, Inc., a company and ministry of the Lord that began in 2011. She has both a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Marine Biology and 17 years of experience in Marine Sciences. She has worked as a Marine Researcher and an Environmental Consultant studying numerous marine species in locales as varied as Great South Bay, New York, several Caribbean Islands and Queensland, Australia. She also has 13 years of experience in education, specializing in curriculum development, training and instruction of Marine, Environmental and Boating Safety Courses. She is also trained and certified in water rescue, boating safety, and sailboat operation. An accomplished writer, she is also a published author and editor of technical articles and educational curriculum. She personally compiles and\/or writes all Saltwater Studies curriculum in order to ensure classes are biblically-based while also offering scientifically accurate information. As an instructor, it is Christa\u2019s desire to foster in her students a respect and knowledge of the Bible, its scientific accounts, and our Creator-God as well as a love for the marine environment.<\/p>\n
